Redondo Beach Unified School District is a school district with approximately 8,000 students headquartered in Redondo Beach, California.
RBUSD serves the city of Redondo Beach. In addition, residents of Hermosa Beach may choose to attend Redondo Union High School of RBUSD or the Mira Costa High School of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District. [1]

RBUSD was established in 1993 by the consolidation of Redondo Beach City School District and South Bay Union High School District. [2]
Although Redondo Union High School is the only official high school in the Redondo Beach Unified School District, it is a well known fact that since 1993 households in the 90278 zip code have their choice to send their kids to either Redondo Union High School or Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. This was promised by the Manhattan Beach Unified School District back in 1993 when the dismantling of the south bay unified school district was taking effect, and the High school serving North Redondo Beach (which is where Aviation Park is now located on the corner of Aviation Blvd and Manhattan Beach Blvd) was shut down.
